Thank you to all presenters and participants for an interfaith conversation from the perspectives of the three Abrahamic religions. This program was provided by The Atlantice Insititute of Central Florida in partnership with Congregation Ohev Shalom.
Table of Abraham is a panel discussion with representatives from each of the three Abrahamic traditions who will share and examine historic stories of key women in their respective faiths. This program`s theme is “Women of Faith`s Contribution to Society: Role Models from History.” Program will start with a light dinner.
SPEAKERS:
Rev. Katrina Jenkins
Rev. Katrina Jenkins serves as the Dean of Religious Life at Rollins College–where she began her second year in August. She is originally from Stratford, Connecticut. Rev. Jenkins holds a BS in Speech Communication from Syracuse University, and received her Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School in Massachusetts. She is ordained by The American Baptist Churches, USA, and has begun her 18th year of chaplaincy within a higher education setting.
Prior to coming to Rollins, Katrina served as chaplain at Illinois College for five years. Before this, she was the Protestant Chaplain and Multicultural Center Liaison at Bentley University in Massachusetts for 11 years. Katrina is very involved in the community and hold various positions in local organizations
Yasemin Aksoy
Yasemin Aksoy is an active member of the interfaith community. She was the Director of Communications at Respect Graduate School in Pennsylvania, an academic institution founded by American Muslims offering a graduate degree in Islamic Studies. She was previously the Communications Director at the Alliance for Shared Values in Manhattan, a nonprofit umbrella group providing advocacy, research and membership to six interfaith dialogue organizations. Mrs. Aksoy has been involved in numerous civic projects and initiatives since 2001 and guest lectures on various topics relating to Islam and the Muslim world. She has a strong interest in interfaith and social justice causes.
Amy Geboff
Amy Geboff is the Director of Youth and Family Education at Congregation Ohev Shalom, a position she has held for 22 years. She began in 1996 as the Religious School administrator and then added the youth groups and family programs to her responsibilities.
Amy grew up in Philadelphia where she went to Jewish Day School through High School. She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a bachelors degree in horticulture and a Wurzweiler School of Social Work of Yeshiva University with a Master’s degree in Social Work. Amy also is a graduate of the Mandel Teacher Education Institute for Jewish Educators. Prior to moving to Orlando she was the Youth Director for two years and then the Program Director for 9 years at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, Ohio.
Amy has three daughters, Sara who is married and the Director of Jewish Life and Learning of the Conservative synagogue in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her husband is the development director of Camp Ramah in the Rockies. Alana and Rebecca are twins. Rebecca is in her 5th year of teaching 4th grade in Denver Colorado and Alana is a social worker in Boston for an agency that does surrogacy. Her husband Eric is the Executive Director of Jewish Family Services of Orlando.
